Founded in 2011 by Pastor Joao Quadra, Philadelphia Indigenous Evangelical Mission’s (MEFIN) goal is to evangelize indigenous people groups in the Xingu River Reservation of Brazil.  They are now starting construction of a mission center to offer theological and missionary training to equip indigenous people to reach their own people group and neighboring people groups. 

After many years of ministering to the indigenous people groups in Xingu region, MEFIN has identified that indigenous non-believers are much more receptive and inclined to trust another indigenous leader compared to a non-indigenous person.  Many indigenous believers are hungry for the word of God and have a desire to be better equipped to share the gospel in neighboring villages.  

The construction site will be based in Alta Floresta, Mato Grosso, Brazil, strategically located outside of the reservation and close to MEFIN headquarters.  Light on the Hill Charities will be providing 40% of the funding for the project, covering the first 2 phases of 3 planned phases.  The overall project is approximately 2.4 million Brazilian Reais over the course of the next few years.  The first two phases is 1 million reais of that total or about $170,000. 

The remaining funding will be supported over time by a consortium of local churches and city leaders.  We are hoping that FBCA will partner with us on this project and continue that partnership going forward as the school goes from construction to operation.
