About MEFIN

MEFIN is “civil association of a religious, educational and philanthropic nature, without economic purposes,” was incorporated as a charitable mission on October 8, 2024 as an “organization independent of any ecclesiastical leader, private organization, government or political party; … incorporated in its own right and autonomy. The purpose of MEFIN is to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ, promote the study of the Bible and education in general, practice charity and organize churches among the indigenous population” of Brazil.

MEFIN has applied for a grant, which has been accepted from Light on the Hill to fund the establishment of a mission center that will train indigenous missionaries in the region of Brazil that lies between the middle Xingu region, near São José do Xingu in Mato Grosso, to Novo Progresso in Pará, to Vilhena in the state of Rondônia. The mission center will train indigenous and non-indigenous missionaries by offering theological training and educational courses on both a full-time and part-time basis.

As a result of MEFIN’s existing activities in the region, there is significant demand and growing need for well trained missionaries to serve the local indigenous villages there. MEFIN’s current mission projects encompass more than 35 villages, extend to 5 distinct ethnic groups and have resulted in the planting of 18 churches. Due to growing demand and interest in the region, MEFIN urgently needs a physical structure to educate and train missionaries. As a part of this grant project, MEFIN would like to expand its reach to three additional ethnic groups is undertaking a linguistic project for the oral translation of the Bible into the Panará language.
